- Sanding of deck timber surfaces
- Pressure cleaning and deck washing
- A choice of finishes such as oil or water based finishes
- A range of decking stains
- Slip resistance products to reduce slippery surfaces
- Ongoing maintenance program
- Recoating program
- Referall program to select builders and timber suppliers
Some Considerations:
- Surfaces must be cleaned or sanded back to bare timber
- Not all decks can be sanded due to the type of deck nails (deck washing is an effective alternative)
- All furniture removed prior to job starting
- Moisture stains from weathering or pot plants may remain in the timber
- Surface finishes may drip below to under the deck – this area may need to be protected
- Access to outer decking boards could be difficult so a painted border may be necessary or a variation may occur
- Good weather is necessary to complete the work
- New decks or timbers often must be left uncoated for a period of time to ensure tannin has leached from the timber fibres. If not this can lead to surface peeling.
- Covered decks and surfaces will tend to last longer than surfaces directly exposed to the weather
